Anger: The Most Misunderstood Emotion on Your Healing Journey

Anger. It’s the emotion many of us are taught to fear, suppress, or avoid altogether.

But what if I told you that anger is one of the most powerful tools in your healing journey?

One of my biggest "aha" moments came during a therapy session (yes, even therapists need therapy!). I was concerned because I felt this overwhelming anger bubbling inside me.

It felt like something was wrong with me.

I’ll never forget the response of my therapist.

She smiled ear to ear and said, “FINALLY!”

She celebrated my anger, held space for it, and encouraged me to do the same.

This reaction was a complete shock to me because, like many of us, I grew up believing that anger was inconvenient, ugly, and something to be ashamed of.

But in that moment, I learned something profound: anger is a form of self-love.

Anger knows when you've been mistreated.

It rises up when your boundaries have been crossed and reminds you that you deserve better.

It calls for action and change, pulling you out of harmful situations and setting the stage for transformation.

Anger says, "ENOUGH!"It paves the way for “I am enough.”

So the next time anger surfaces, don’t suppress it.

Instead, celebrate it.

Hold space for it with compassion.

Anger has wisdom—listen to it.

It’s the fire that helps you rise and reclaim your power.
